Women in Politics – Grounded and Raised to Hall of Fame

Who says that politics is a man’s subject, ask me I have list of woman who can debate on politics and provide insights which no one would have ever imagined. My wife, one among my list has got a great understanding on various political issues. One of my favourite pastime is discussing with her about political views of various parties, their agendas, the work they have done etc. Sometimes her illustration on the subject surprises me. She has nailed the debate many times with valid points, I never imagined about. Remembering the same, here are the influential people I believe have turned the political history upside down.

Hillary Clinton- A women of determination

Hillary Clinton life has always made me admire her.  A democratic nominee, forceful champion, Grammy award winner, running a presidential race is a well deserving candidate. Been in politics for 4 decades, there is been a debate on her competence to become president. Clinton has always been in news for her stint as First Lady during Bill Clinton presidency or her becoming the state secretary under President Barack Obama. Being in lime light for years and the public track record, her open statements, have always subjected to criticism.

Her work so far:
• Under Bill presidency, Hillary persistently fought to reform the healthcare system, so that every citizen has the access to health care at affordable prices. She worked hard to create children health insurance program, by bringing the two opponents democrats and republicans together.
• Her involvement with rural development and small town employment have encouraged her to launch innovative enterprise  with eBay of New york to provide small businesses with microloan schemes, tech support and training programs, enabling the people to sell their products online.
• To help the farmers, she has launched an innovative approach called ‘Farm to Fork ’, where the New York farmers could sell the products to restaurants, colleges, schools etc.

Margaret Thatcher – The Iron Lady
Margaret Thatcher, the first female prime minister of Britain, is epitomised for her political standards, economic policies and self-determination.  The controversial figure of political history, she was the first living prime minister to be honoured with statue in the House of Parliament.  Legend of her own time, Margaret political agendas are famously known as Thatcherism.

Her works
Born as grocery daughter, Margaret was always been influenced by speeches of Winston Churchill. His obdurate attitude had a great influence on Margaret political career.

• Once Thatcher was in rule, she along with her council of ministry worked hard to improve the economic reforms. She pushed hard to bring privatization which was hardly opposed by opponent parties.
• Thatcher introduced ‘Poll Tax’, where the citizen has to pay tax based of the property value they own.
• She cancelled the free milk supply to control the economic crisis, for which Thatcher was criticised as ‘Milk Snatcher’.
• Her actions, policies and schemes have been considered pointless, however she was considered as the longest serving prime minister so far.

The two ladies of time might be very opposite in their nature, but their determination to stand for what they believe is way influential for many people.
