Democrats or Republicans – All about the US politics

Sanjeet Singh analysis & differentiate about US politics, Democrats or Republicans.

Being American citizen for quite some time, I can profoundly differentiate the two terms ‘Democrats and republicans’. Initially it was very difficult to understand political landscape of these two terms. Attending various debates and conferences held to discuss political vies, issues have helped me to understand the terms. I remember, one of my Non- American friend wanted to know, how different are democrats government from that of republican’s?Democrats and republic represents a system where citizens elect the politicians who epitomise their interest and the form of government.  Fundamentally both the terms are dissimilar forms of government.

History& The differences

The Democrats
Initially the Democrats part was founded in the year 1848, where in there were two groups of people who “supported slavery ’’ and the other “opposed Slavery’’. The democrats believed that the tax policy should not be levied equally, according to them tax cuts should be less on middle and low income families, while it should be more for corporate and rich families.
• Democrats have a different view on social issues. Their thinking is more progressive and open considering Gay marriages and abortion rights. They believed that gay marriagesisn’t a crime and should be equally encouraged and allowed as a part of social behaviour. Coming to Abortion rights, they haven’t been completely in favour nor have shown any open disapproval.
• Labour and trade views are uncertain with respect to democrats. They believe in increase of minimum wage and restriction on free trade to protect American employment. This form of government wants the regulations to be set up more in favour of public interest especially with health care so that it is accessible to everyone.
• When it comes to environment and energy conservation, I favour democrats. Most of the Democrats believe, there should be a strict restriction and legislation to stop drilling oil and protecting the fossil fuels for a better environment resulting a safe and sustainable future. Alternative energy solutions have always been the right choices made by this form of government, who have never hesitated on supporting green initiatives with tax dollar schemes.
• Education agenda is quite different for a democrat’s party, they believe in a progressive education wherein students are encouraged to study by providing a fund system from the government treasury.
• Looking forward the crime and capital punishment, democrats are against the non- violence. They mostly believe in reformist way of dealing the crime. Example: Democrats opinion that the crimes like selling drugs must not be treated as serious offense and the individual should be allowed to learn his mistake. They favour in imposing minor penalties and sending to rehabilitation, in a way they have faith in bringing about change in the individual for a creating a better society.

The Republicans
The Republican Party came into existence in the year 1856 and was established by 1860. Under the guidance of Abraham Lincoln, the party became a major force in American politics who worked hard to end slavery. This party is considered to be more of practical approached based on the changing situations. Republicans believed in constitution as their fundamental law, constitutional convection is the way they represent their political views. To be more precise, republicans are more about practical approach and logical thinking.

• Unlike democrats, republican thinking about is very different. They consider ha tax cut should be levied on everyone, corporate, middle class, wealthy people no one stands as exception.
• Dealing with social issues, Republican thinking is ore of conservative form. They have a strong oppose for gay marriages and abortion. They believe that marriage is a concept design for opposite sex, and same sex marriage seems to be unaccountable. Even though eventually this thinking process has changed eventually, but still conservative principles are still on.
• Republicans believe in free trade, so that the costs can be kept low for consumers and more profits can be gained for business. With respect to increase of minimum wage, republicans consider that wages should be low so that the American citizens have access to product and service at minimum cost.
• Republicans have always been practical while dealing health care issues. They consider quality service over anything, hence are completely again the involvement of government regarding affordable acre act.
• Energy consumption policies in a republic government are entirely market based. They are not against clean fuel, but tend to believe in the present market condition to weight the future needs. However, they have given a green signal to oil drilling to provide energy at low cost to the consumers.
• When it comes to education, republicans have believed in privatization to encourage loans and other education systems that benefited students. Involvement of government funds is less, as their approach is based on conservative changes.
• Republicans are said to be the harsh judicial policies, where in crime is considered to be treated with no mercy and capital punishments are to be imposed to control the crime rate.

Both the party have always been in debate regarding their political views; however I have tried to list out few core difference and the political beliefs. Even though few of the listed differences have been figured out to depict the exact picture of how these two representatives of government are different. Periodically changes have been made; political beliefs were changed depending on the circumstances.
